Story

Words and Music by Ken Thies / Timothy Suckow, written in 1985

"Don't Tell Me" is an authentic 1980's rocker written during that incredible period of music. The authors wrote the song for their garage band (more of a basement band, really!) in the mid-80's but it was not recorded professionally until 2013. Song features Ben Thies (son of Ken) rippin' electric guitar solo, and Ken on acoustic guitar.

Lyrics

What are you doing?
Tell Me now
I know that you feel you're running down somehow
What are you saying?
Where will you go?
Where are you staying?
How will you know?
I never believed in what you seek
So what are you thinking?
Come on tell me
I knew what you had right from the start
So don't tell me you've had a change of heart
Don't tell me it was all a mistake
Don't tell me you didn't know what it takes
Don't tell me you were all alone
Don't tell me you had never known
Don't tell me
I don't want to know
Don't tell me which way to go

You know what you want
You have a plan
But how you survive I don't understand
It's in your eyes
Written on your face
Every step you take is very carefully placed
Anyone else who's gotten in your way
Has been pushed aside - you've blown them all away
This time the plan didn't work for you
Now that I've caught you - what will you do?
Don't tell me it was all a mistake
Don't tell me you didn't know what it takes
Don't tell me you were all alone
Don't tell me you had never known
Don't tell me
I don't want to know
Don't tell me which way to go
