Words and Music by Timothy Suckow, written March 2017.
One of the advantages of working a repetitive factory job is an enormous amount of time to think. This song was written over time on-the-job at work in my head. Once recording started, it didn't take very long to complete.
I've often heard that Pastors write sermons that they themselves need to hear. The same is true for songwriters. I am constantly battling with myself and my own silly ideas about life instead of letting Jesus take over.
As is the case with all Dutybound Servant songs, I want to give those who do not believe the opportunity to hear. In a first for my music, I incorporated two different Bible passage spoken monologues. The first is from Mark 14:61-64: Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" And Jesus said, "I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." And the high priest tore his garments and said, "What further witnesses do we need? You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?"
The second is from Luke 9:35: And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my Chosen One, listen to him!
The first passage asks the listener what their decision is; if they should believe in Him or not. The second reading gives the reason why you should listen to Jesus.
An instrumental version of this art / progressive / techno track is also available starting on August 9, free from CD Baby.
